25 Years on the Floor

My path to coaching didn't start in a classroom. It started on the floor of high-stakes hospitality operations, where I spent 25 years as a sommelier, operations director, and business owner across major Canadian markets. That environment taught me something no leadership textbook could: sustainable performance isn't built on systems and processes. It's built on the emotional intelligence of the people running them.

Why TMG Exists

That belief is what shapes my work today as an Career Coach, faculty educator, and international speaker. In 2022, my wife Joanne and I returned home to Burlington, Ontario, and launched The McFadden Group. My mission is to help professionals, business owners, students, and leaders at every level step out of burnout and realign their careers with what they actually value.I also held coaching faculty positions at Fanshawe College and Centennial College, where I taught leadership to the next generation of professionals, alongside my direct coaching practice.

To lead others well, we have to first master a more honest, emotionally intelligent version of ourselves.

Beyond the Coaching Room

I speak on major industry stages about mental health awareness, psychological safety, and culture change, and serve as North American Ambassador for The Burnt Chef Project. I also co-created Restaurant Leadership 101, applying my coaching framework to help hospitality professionals specifically close emotional intelligence gaps in their teams.
